About Us

 The Harness Racing Industry Training Centre Board Of Management (HRITC) was established in 1990 to provide a point of entry for anyone wishing to participate in the harness racing industry.

The Centre was established in Bendigo in 1990, as a section of the Bendigo TAFE.  Bendigo was chosen because of the strength of the harness racing industry in the area and the willingness of the local trainers to assist with the development of the students. 

 The Centre has a state of the art stable complex and maintains a team of horses for students to develop their practical skills. The horses are regularly raced providing valuable experience for the student group.

In recent years the Centre has developed a strong online capability, delivering the knowledge aspects of its courses online through-out Australia.

The strength of the Centre has been it's commitment to a hands-on training facility where students develop their horsemanship and build the skills necessary to handle and care for horses. 

 The Centre was accredited as a Registered Training Organisation (RTO 22215) in 2010. 

Since becoming an accredited RTO,  the Centre, has branched out from Harness Racing to deliver relevant content to both the Thoroughbred and Greyhound Racing Industries in Victoria.  

In 2021, the Racing Education Centre developed further relationships with Harness Racing NSW and into 2022 are their preferred supplier of training to licence participants.
